+97% CONVERSION RATE WITH +54% ROAS

A stalled evergreen hat campaign was pulling traffic but converting barely two in a hundred. A creative rebuild product-forward, benefit-led, urgency-driven nearly doubled purchase conversion on the same click traffic.

THE CHALLENGE

The evergreen Boonie Hat set was a reliable traffic driver. Link CTR held above 1% and cost-per-click stayed healthy. But the money leaked at the end of the funnel: purchase conversion rate sat at 2.02%, meaning roughly 98 of every 100 people who clicked never bought.

The control creative, "Built for the Sun," sold a feeling, a lifestyle mood shot with the hat almost incidental. It earned the click on curiosity, but gave a shopper no reason to commit once they landed. Traffic was arriving warm and leaving cold.

OBJECTIVE

Lift Conversion Rate

THE INSIGHT

A low conversion rate on healthy CTR is a creative message problem, not a targeting one. The audience was qualified enough to click, they just weren't being sold.

So the diagnosis reframed the goal. Stop optimizing the ad to earn the click, and start optimizing it to earn the purchase. That meant leading with the product, stacking the reasons to buy, and adding a reason to buy now, the three things the mood shot left on the table.

THE APPROACH

I built two conversion-first directions off one thesis. “make the hat, and the reasons to own it, impossible to miss” and let them run against the control.

Direction A — Product hero. A bold top-down flat-lay with the hat as the entire frame, with benefit callout around the frame. Every functional objection answered inside the ad.

Direction B — Proof & urgency. A lifestyle stamped "Back in Stock — #1 Best Seller 4 Years Running." Social proof plus scarcity, to convert intent at the scroll.

THE RESULTS

Both rebuilds cleared the control decisively on the metric that mattered. Purchase conversion rate climbed from 2.02% on the mood shot to 3.47% on the product hero and 3.98% on the proof-and-urgency static, and ROAS tracked right alongside it.
